The eBay filter in short

Smart Filter checks each listing in eBay search results as the page loads, on ebay.com and eBay's other storefronts such as ebay.co.uk, ebay.de and ebay.com.au. A listing is read by its title, up to 400 characters; price, seller and shipping are not part of it. A keyword rule such as for parts* matches words; an AI rule such as replica or counterfeit items describes a kind of listing. A match folds into a Hidden line with a Show button, or is blurred or dimmed. Smart Filter sends nothing to eBay.

What it filters on eBay

Search results

Each listing in a search is checked on its own as the page loads.

Words sellers use

Titles carry the condition: a keyword rule such as for parts*, not working hides broken items for free.

Listings by what they are

An AI rule such as replica or counterfeit items reads the title the way you would, also when it never says replica.

Every storefront

The same rules run on ebay.com, ebay.co.uk, ebay.de and eBay's other storefronts. Shopping on Amazon too? See the Amazon filter.

Rules worth trying on eBay

Keyword rules suit words that titles really use. AI rules catch a kind of listing, whatever its title says. Both hide listings only on your screen; your search stays as it is.

Filtering eBay: common questions

How do I hide listings on eBay?

Search on eBay, click the Smart Filter icon and add a suggested rule such as for parts*, or describe what you want gone. Each listing is checked as the page loads, and the matches fold into a Hidden line with a Show button.

Can I hide sponsored listings on eBay?

Not with a keyword rule. eBay does not put the Sponsored label into a listing's text, so the word is not there to match. Rules about what a listing is work as usual.

Which eBay pages does it filter?

Search results, on ebay.com and eBay's other storefronts. Listing pages and seller pages are left as they are.

How many credits does an eBay search use?

Keyword rules use none. AI rules come with up to 10,000 credits to start, and one credit checks one listing against one AI rule: a page of 60 listings and one AI rule uses up to 60 credits. Listings you have seen before are not charged again. Plans and top-ups add more.

Does eBay see that I filter?

No. Smart Filter changes the page only in your browser and sends nothing to eBay. AI rules send the rule and up to 400 characters of each listing to Smart Filter's server, and only after you agree; your eBay account, your search and the page address are not part of it. See the privacy policy.
