The rage bait filter in short
Smart Filter hides rage bait, posts written to make you angry so that you reply or share them, with the AI rule rage bait. It checks each post, reply and video on Reddit, X, YouTube and other sites; rage bait is a suggested rule on Reddit. Related rules such as quote posts that only mock someone work the same way. Rage bait rarely shares words, so a keyword rule catches little of it. The rule hides what matches the description, not opinions you disagree with, and applies to every side. A rule set to the sensitivity Only clear cases hides less. Every hidden post keeps a Show button.
Rage bait has no keyword
Rage bait is a tone, not a topic. It changes its words every day, so a list of angry words catches a fraction and hides honest posts that use them.

An AI rule judges what a post is trying to do. It can be wrong, which is why every hidden post keeps its Show button.
Rules against rage bait
Start with rage bait
, then narrow it down. A rule hides what it describes on every side of an argument; it does not judge who is right. For the election, see how to hide politics and election posts.

Hide, blur or dim
Hide folds a post into a Hidden line. Blur and Dim keep it in place, so you see how much was caught and can still open one.
Reddit, X, YouTube and more
Posts, replies, comments and video titles on the sites that work out of the box. More on the Reddit, Twitter / X and YouTube filter pages.
News comment sections
Set the rule to All sites and it runs on other sites too, news comment sections included, where Smart Filter finds the repeated items itself.
Filtering rage bait: common questions
What is a rage bait filter?
A filter that hides posts written to make you angry so that you reply or share them. Smart Filter does it with an AI rule: you write rage bait, and it checks each post against that description.
How do I hide rage bait on Reddit?
Open Reddit, click the Smart Filter icon and add the suggested rule rage bait. Matching posts and comments fold into a Hidden line as they load, in every subreddit, and Show brings one back.
Can I filter rage bait on Twitter / X?
Yes. Add rage bait, or quote posts that only mock someone, for x.com or for all sites. Posts and replies are checked as the timeline loads.
Will it hide posts I simply disagree with?
It hides what matches your description, not opinions you dislike, and the same rule applies to every side. The AI can be wrong, so every hidden post keeps a Show button, and a rule set to Only clear cases hides less.
Is the rage bait filter free?
Keyword rules are free with no limit, but rage bait rarely shares words, so it works best as an AI rule. AI rules come with up to 10,000 credits to start; one credit checks one post against one AI rule. Plans start at $5 a month.
What is sent when an AI rule checks a post?
Nothing for keyword rules. For AI rules, and only after you agree: the rule and up to 400 characters of each post's text, with a random install ID. Your accounts and the page address are not sent. Details are in the privacy policy.
