Hiding spoilers in short
Smart Filter hides spoilers for shows, games and sports on Reddit, YouTube, X and other sites. An AI rule names what you have not seen yet, such as spoilers for Severance or Formula 1 race results, and hides posts, comments, videos and search results that give it away, also when nobody marked them as spoilers. A keyword rule such as spoiler* matches words only. A new post that waits for an AI answer stays hidden for up to 2.5 seconds; keyword rules apply at once. Blur keeps a post unreadable until you click Show. Switch the rule off once you have caught up.
Why muting the show's name is not enough
A muted word hides every post that names the show, the harmless ones too, and misses the post that talks about the ending without naming it.

- The last scene on the testing floor changes the whole season

spoilers for Severance- Severance gets a release date for its next season
- Finale thoughts: I did not expect Mark to make that choice
- The last scene on the testing floor changes the whole season
- Who else screamed at the elevator scene in episode 9?
An AI rule judges whether a post gives something away, so news about the show can stay while talk about the plot goes. It can be wrong, which is why every hidden post keeps its Show button; for a show you care about a lot, add a keyword rule with its characters' names as well.
Spoiler rules worth trying
Name the show, the game or the league. A rule can be up to 200 characters, so spoilers for Severance season 2
works as well as a plain show name.

Where it hides spoilers
Posts and comments in every subreddit. Reddit blurs posts their authors mark as spoilers; a rule also covers the comments and the posts nobody marked. More on the Reddit filter page.
YouTube
Videos on the home page, in search, in the sidebar and in Shorts, judged by title and channel name, plus comments. More on the YouTube filter page.
X and Bluesky
Posts and replies as the timeline loads, the place where results and endings show up first.
Google and other sites
Google Search results work out of the box. Set a rule to All sites and it also runs on news sites, forums and comment sections.
How to block spoilers in four steps
- Add Smart Filter to Chrome. It is free, and keyword rules work right away. Add to Chrome
- Click the Smart Filter icon and type a rule. Pick AI rule and name what you have not seen yet, such as spoilers for Severance.
- Choose All sites, and Hide or Blur. All sites covers Reddit, YouTube, X and Google with one rule. Blur keeps the post in place, unreadable until you click it.
- Agree once to AI rules, then switch the rule off once you have caught up. To keep several, put them in a set such as No spoilers and switch the set on and off.
Hiding spoilers: common questions
How do I avoid spoilers on Reddit?
Add an AI rule such as spoilers for Severance with Smart Filter. It checks every post and comment as it loads, in every subreddit, and hides the ones that give the plot away, also when nobody marked them as spoilers.
How do I hide spoilers on YouTube?
Add a rule that names the show or game, for youtube.com or for all sites. Smart Filter judges each video by its title and channel name on the home page, in search, in the sidebar and in Shorts, and checks the comments too.
How do I block spoilers on Twitter / X?
Add the rule to x.com or to all sites. Posts and replies that give something away fold into a Hidden line as the timeline loads. X's muted words hide posts with a word you name; an AI rule also catches the ones that never name the show.
Can it hide sports results?
Yes. Describe them, such as Formula 1 race results or NBA scores and highlights, and switch the rule off once you have watched the race or the game.
Will it hide the spoiler before I see it?
A new post that waits for an AI answer stays hidden for up to 2.5 seconds, so it is not shown while the answer is on its way. Keyword rules apply at once. No filter is perfect, so pick Blur if you want a second line of defense: a blurred post stays unreadable until you click Show.
Is the spoiler filter free?
Keyword rules such as spoiler* are free with no limit. AI rules come with up to 10,000 credits to start; one credit checks one post against one AI rule. Plans start at $5 a month.
What is sent when an AI rule checks a post?
Nothing for keyword rules. For AI rules, and only after you agree: the rule and up to 400 characters of each post's text, with a random install ID. Your accounts and the page address are not sent. Details are in the privacy policy.
Watch it first. Read about it after.
