The Etsy filter in short

Smart Filter checks each listing in Etsy search results as the page loads, on etsy.com. A listing is read by its title, up to 400 characters; price, shop and reviews are not part of it. A keyword rule such as digital download* matches words; an AI rule such as mass-produced, not handmade describes a kind of listing. A match folds into a Hidden line with a Show button, or is blurred or dimmed, and a hidden listing leaves no gap in the grid. Reviews on listing pages are not filtered. Smart Filter sends nothing to Etsy.

What it filters on Etsy

Search results

Each listing in the grid is checked on its own, and a hidden one leaves no empty cell.

Handmade or not

An AI rule such as mass-produced, not handmade reads a title the way a buyer would. It can be wrong, so every hidden listing keeps its Show button.

Downloads and printables

A keyword rule such as digital download*, printable* keeps your search to things that arrive in the post.

Same rules elsewhere

Turn a rule on for all sites and it runs on eBay and Amazon too.

Rules worth trying on Etsy

Keyword rules suit words that titles really use. AI rules catch a kind of listing, whatever its title says.

Filtering Etsy: common questions

How do I hide mass-produced items on Etsy?

Search on Etsy, click the Smart Filter icon and add the suggested rule mass-produced, not handmade. Each listing is checked by its title as the page loads, and the matches fold into a Hidden line with a Show button.

Can I hide digital downloads on Etsy?

Yes. The keyword rule digital download* hides every listing whose title says digital download. It is free and runs on your device. Add printable* to the same rule for printables.

Does it filter Etsy reviews?

No. It filters listings in search results. Reviews on a listing page stay as they are.

How many credits does an Etsy search use?

Keyword rules use none. AI rules come with up to 10,000 credits to start, and one credit checks one listing against one AI rule: a page of 40 listings and one AI rule uses up to 40 credits. Listings you have seen before are not charged again. Plans and top-ups add more.

Does Etsy see that I filter?

No. Smart Filter changes the page only in your browser and sends nothing to Etsy. AI rules send the rule and up to 400 characters of each listing to Smart Filter's server, and only after you agree; your Etsy account, your search and the page address are not part of it. See the privacy policy.
